Superb writing by a man who has endured a lot but came out the other side with a raw ability to pull the reader into his world, but most of all, his mature and miraculous resolve as he turned the victimhood of his youth into victory as an adult. I feel the story needs to become a film. If only, for those of us who think life was hard growing up to discover what hard really is. How a man with so many gifts could endure such injustice both at school and at home is a testimony of resilience. As they say, the cream always rises to the top. Eventually. The book reminded me of The Glass Castle which is not always easy to read, yet has enough pull to walk the walk and feel rewarded in the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling, suffering or mis-understood. Bothma is to be celebrated not only for the beautiful way in which he writes, but also the road he has traveled.
